SIRIUS Satellite Radio Expands its Christian Music Programming with Launch of New 'Revolution' Music ChannelSIRIUS Satellite Radio |
As part of its new programming lineup effective September 29, SIRIUS Satellite Radio is introducing a new music channel called Revolution that will be devoted to Christian rock music, and will complement SIRIUS' already robust Christian music offerings.
Located at channel 67, Revolution will join SIRIUS' other Christian music channels, Spirit channel 66 (Christian Hits) and Praise channel 68 (Gospel). As with all SIRIUS music channels, Revolution will be completely commercial- free.
"SIRIUS wants to be a leader in Christian music programming, and Revolution is the latest step in that endeavor," said Steve Blatter, SIRIUS Senior Vice President of Music Programming. Revolution will feature today's most popular, faith-based rock music, by artists such as Switchfoot, Relient K, Thousand Foot Krutch and many more.
Although its popularity has been growing steadily for the past decade, sales of albums in the Christian Rock genre grew an astounding 125 per cent in 2004, according to the Gospel Music Association, and Christian music is currently the sixth most popular in the US, behind rock, hip-hop, R&B/urban, country and pop music - and ahead of jazz and classical.
